Drydocking / Voyage Repairs / Conversion Projects

Deepsea Navigation has carried out extensive research in the docking, voyage repairs & conversion projects and have narrowed down the areas where there are significant wastage and over expenses for reasons which with our expertise can be zeroed down and eliminated.

As per our research growth of work in a shipyard can be avoided significantly if historical data are utilized and drydock specifications are written in a standard and error free format.

We can help ship operators to identify most repair items, make reliable drydock plans, and generate accurate specifications, which may reduce the share of growth work by approximately 60% and save ship operators an average of 50% - 80% per drydock in growth costs. In retrospect, ship operators will have better knowledge of their vessels so they can preserve the capital value of ship assets and reduce the safety risk in ship operation.

Our highly experienced Technical team assist Owners/Operators in carrying out Docking, Voyage repairs & Conversion projects and we have helped Owners/Operators save 30% - 35% of the docking cost with our expertise.

In short Deepsea Navigation offers a Turnkey project on Drydocking where we attend the vessel 3 months prior docking of vessel and make the job specifications as required in line with the Owners, Charterers & other relevant third party requirement. The job specs are then sent to yards for quotes (to yards in countries as per the trading of the vessel).

After quotes are received each item of the job spec is negotiated with every potential yard and a cost comparison sheet prepared and submitted to Owners for approval with our recommendation.

After the approval process, yard is finalized and our representative who is ex chief Engineer and proficient in docking & repairs attends the vessel and carries out the docking repairs as per Class, Oil major and owners requirement.

After completion of docking we Negotiate the final invoice with the shipyard to close the deal.

Complete docking report is submitted to Owners in 7 days time.

Pre Purchase Inspection

We at Deepsea Navigation assist our Clients in the pre purchase inspection of vessels which is one of the important activities in the Purchase of a vessel. It involves a huge amount of money and profession knowledge of particular type of ships and functions.

Our team use their long past experience backed by technology and our checklist to generate a technical report based on a thorough inspection of the vessel, equipment and parts.

The inspections scope will depend on two factors:

  1. The instructions given by our Clients

  2. What the seller allows us to see.

Deepsea Navigation offers a complete, independent & objective report which is designed to satisfy the buyer’s need. Any further requirements or specific instructions from our clients will be looked at by our inspectors.

Our standard report (for vessels) covers the following:

General and descriptive information, measurements, capacities, tonnages, inspection findings, necessary certificates and documents, the propulsion’s motor’s condition (maintenance specification and information), condition of the auxiliary engines, electric equipment, boilers, propellers, tailshafts, steering gear, reduction gears, clutches, treatment plants, separators, purifiers, discharge monitors, heaters, compressors, air bottles, air conditioners, lockers, spare parts, ship seachests and discharges,  transverse propellers, pumps and pipes. It will also include the consumption to different situations, latest loads, tank coating conditions, storage areas, deck, engine room, arrangements, deck equipment, mooring equipment, safety equipment, fire-fighting equipment, thickness measurement reports, etc.

The detailed report generated bringing out the actual present condition of the vessel becomes a primary tool for the decision making in evaluating net worth of the asset.

Port Captain

At Deepsea Navigation we provide Owners/Charterers a Full range of Port Captain & Port Engineer Services to assist Master in all facets of cargo operations (Dry, Containerized, Liquid & Chemical) and also for Bunker Surveys

Once appointed our Port Captain liaises closely with all parties to ensure pre-planning of the cargo operations and ensure a professional load and/or discharge operation. During cargo operations we have our Port captain in attendance on a 24/7 basis.

Following below is the assistance our Port Captain will provide to Master while he is onboard

  • Oversee and direct vessel and stevedoring operations to ensure Owners/Charterers Cargo Handling Guidelines and customer's requirements are followed, all manifested cargo is discharged, all designated export cargo is loaded, and shifting and loading of cargo conforms to the Vessel Planner's stow plan.

  • Ensure efficient, timely, and correct preparation and submission of all required documentation related to the cargo and operation.

  • Assist Vessel Planner in optimizing vessel's stowage planning as necessary.

  • Assist Stevedore in optimizing cargo unitization and stowage as well as discharge/load operational efficiency.

  • Monitor cargo handling activities and cargo damage occurrences to identify problems, prevent damage recurrences, and increase cost efficiencies.

  • Ensure subcontractors operate according to the requirements and guidelines set forth by Owners/Charterers.

  • Review and improve cost control of vessel operations (including correctness of vessel’s labor time sheets) in accordance with stevedore contract.

  • Work with the vessel to ensure vessel stability, trim and other conditions are at safe operating levels.

  • Develop and maintain strong, positive working relationships with Owner/Charterer contributors, stevedores, ILA labor, processors, surveyors, Port Authority personnel, and all vendors relating to Owners/Charterers business.

Bunker Surveys is a specialist service for owners/charterers, helping them find “hidden” bunkers onboard. This survey is done at the time of bunkering and also off-hire to ensure the accuracy of master's re-delivery ROB. We have been very successful in helping owners/charterers prove and recover cost of excess bunkers on re-delivery.
